How do I transfer a domain name?

Transferring your domain

".uk" domain names

  1. Let us know that you intend to transfer the domain name.

  2. We will send details of how to get your current host to change the IPS TAG of your domain.

We do not make any charge for this and you will only be billed when the domain is due for renewal.

International domains

  1. If the domain is "locked" by your current host you will have to ask them to remove the lock.
  2. Inform us that you wish to move the domain. We then initiate the process to "pull" the domain to us.
  3. When the transfer is initiated, you, as the registered owner of the domain, will receive an email asking you to confirm the transfer. Read the email carefully and follow the instructions.

Once the domain is transferred we will bill you for one years registration and one year will be added to the expiry date of the domain.

NOTE: Some hosts, particularly low cost domain registration companies, make a charge to transfer domains away from them. They are entitled to make this charge provided they informed you of the charge at the time you registered the domain.

Different companies have their own procedures for transferring a domain name away from them. Some, BT and UK2 to name but two, make this process a lot more complicated than it should be. Unfortunately we cannot offer advice on transferring domains from your existing host, you will need to talk to them.

Once the domain is transferred and your website is ready to go we will point the domain to our mail and web servers. Otherwise we will leave the domain pointing to your old website until you are ready to go live with your new updatable website.

Moving a domain to another host

Just inform us that you wish to move the domain and we will assist with the transfer.

We do not charge to move a domain to another host.
